     • All tournaments will be on Xbox 360s.

• Participants can sign up at the recruiting/info table, located in Room LL5.

• The first 3 hours will be free play; top scores during free play will compete in a bracket-style tournament during the last hour!

• Participants must be 13 years or older.

• Grand Prize for each tournament is a 250GB Xbox 360!

Story Games

Play game master-less peer-to-peer tabletop RPGs such as: d,Fiasco, Inspectors, Dogs in the Vineyar Ghost/Echo, Shock, Silver and White, and The Dreaming Crucible.  Most Story Games are roleplay heavy and rules light—a fantastic introduction to tabletop gaming.

Have a great setting idea for a story or game, but not sure how to turn that idea into a fleshed out world on paper? This workshop will help you learn how to build the setting and the people that live in it, and then some tips on using the setting in your story or game, but not spilling all the beans about all its wonderful secrets.

This workshop is applicable to anyone wanting to learn more about world and culture creation no matter if you LARP, play and run table-top games, or write stories. All are welcome.

Workshop: Tricks of the Trade: Writing in Guild Wars 2 – Room LL2

In this workshop, veteran game industry professionals from ArenaNet will discuss how to design good characters and stories for video games. Join lore and continuity designer Ree Soesbee, writer Angel Leigh McCoy, and game designer Annie VanderMeer Mitsoda as they explore what makes characters interesting, how to populate a world with diverse and engaging NPCs, how to avoid stereotypes and clichés, the fundamentals of story design, and other aspects of writing in video games. They will use their experience creating the world of the upcoming massively-multiplayer role-playing game Guild Wars 2 to help illustrate their points. If you’re interesting in discovering what it’s like to be a writer or content designer at an MMORPG studio or would like to hear more about writing games at ArenaNet, this workshop is for you!

Setting: the independent city-state of Tourmaline is ruled by the wizards of the White College. Prince Ambrose, the younger son of the King of neighboring Arlandia, was sent to the White College to receive a gentleman’s education. To the surprise of many, he actually passed his final exams. Today, Prince Ambrose holds the traditional graduation feast to honor the College Masters. But who knows what shenanigans might happen when you get that many different magical Houses together…

The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf is an adult-themed (PG-13) nursery rhyme, parody game for up to 12 people.

Setting: one year ago, Old MacDonald’s farm animals rose up against him, threw off the chains of agricultural oppression, and founded the overtly fascist Free Animals’ Republic of MacDonald. Today, on the first anniversary of that glorious revolution, the F.A.R.M. holds a gala ball in celebration, culminating in the trial of a most notorious criminal, but shadows lurk in the background. Rumors fly that someone is running the illegal drugs, Curds and Whey. Why is Big Bird nowhere to be found? And who is this mysterious Chicken Little that nobody wants to talk about?
